The event was attended by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Environmental Issues and Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change; Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan; Member of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan; the author of the exhibition, renowned artist and recipient of the Shuhrat Medal Dilorom Mamedova; art enthusiasts, young environmental activists and media representatives.
Speaking at the event, Aziz Abdukhakimov noted that, under the initiative of the President, a new stage of development has begun in New Uzbekistan across all sectors, including the field of fine arts.
“Inspired by the opportunities that have been created, the artists of our country are actively showcasing their talent on the international stage. Owing to the special attention given to environmental protection in recent years, a number of major international open-air art events on environmental themes have been organised in Uzbekistan. Holding international sculpture symposiums with the participation of masters from abroad has become a good tradition. The ARTepa Gallery is another major project in this direction and represents a cultural institution designed to preserve, create, study, promote, and develop cultural values. In its work, the gallery will support scientific, cultural, and educational initiatives dedicated to environmental protection, sustainable development, the promotion of environmental culture and climate change, while also advancing artistic and scholarly ideas in these areas,” said Mr Abdukhakimov.
The Chairman also stressed that the choice of 100 Masterpieces by Dilorom Mamedova as the gallery’s first exhibition was no coincidence.
“The artist’s works are imbued with love for the Motherland, respect for national traditions, and a profound understanding of the human soul. Her unique artistic style reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Uzbek people — their customs, traditions, and spiritual values. A special catalogue has also been published for the exhibition, bringing together all of the artist’s works. This catalogue will serve as a source of aesthetic inspiration for art lovers and as a valuable publication promoting the rich cultural heritage of our country,” the Chairman added.
During the opening ceremony, guests had the opportunity to explore in detail Dilorom Mamedova’s unique and distinctive works. Her art is imbued with love for the Motherland, respect for national traditions, and a profound understanding of the human soul. Her original and instantly recognisable artistic style reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Uzbek people — their customs, traditions, and spiritual values.
“It is a great honour and happiness for me that the very first exhibition to open at the ARTepa Gallery is my own,” said Dilorom Mamedova. “The exhibition features my new works. I tried to approach each painting in a new style. Here, visitors can see works in the genres of abstraction, realism, and philosophical painting, as well as natural landscapes. My goal is to introduce the whole world to the rich nature and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan and, in the future, to organise more exhibitions of this kind.”
The artist also donated the 100 unique paintings presented at the exhibition to Green University.
For reference, since 2022, five major international open-air art events have been held in Uzbekistan with the participation of nearly 100 renowned artists from various countries. As part of these creative gatherings, around 2,000 unique works of painting and graphic art have been created. Today, this extensive collection is preserved in museum holdings and exhibitions and is recognised as an important part of Uzbekistan’s national artistic heritage.
These works reflect the cultural heritage of our country and of other nations, the national costumes of Turkic peoples, the unique natural landscapes of different countries, wildlife, and many other themes.
The exhibition 100 Unique Works by Dilorom Mamedova will run for two months.
