Over 519 million sums in environmental damage identified in Syrdarya region

During the raid, it was established that offenders Sh. Zh. and S. Kh. illegally caught 46 fish from the Shurazak canal in the Farovon mahalla of Saykhunabad district using a prohibited fishing device — an electric fishing rod.
A corresponding protocol was drawn up in connection with the violation. Pending legal assessment, the illegally caught fish and fishing equipment were confiscated, including one rubber boat, one pair of oars, one battery, one pump and one electric fishing rod.
As a result of the offense, the requirements of the laws “On Hunting and Hunting Economy,” “On the Protection and Use of Wildlife,” and “On Nature Protection” were violated. The damage caused to nature amounts to 519 million 120 thousand sums.
The collected materials have been forwarded to the Syrdarya Regional Prosecutor’s Office for legal evaluation and further action.
For reference: from March 11 to May 31, a fishing ban is in effect in the Amudarya and Syrdarya rivers. From April 26 to June 10, fishing is prohibited in natural water bodies of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region. In all other natural water bodies across the country, fishing is banned from April 16 to May 31.
