During the forum, participants presented Uzbekistan’s experience and policy approaches in environmental protection, as well as Japan’s initiatives aimed at advancing international environmental cooperation. Particular attention was given to Uzbekistan’s investment potential, business opportunities and prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
“Introducing innovative technologies and expanding international cooperation are essential for achieving the goals set before us. In this regard, cooperation with Japan — one of the world’s leading countries in environmental technologies — is of particular importance. The Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2022, as well as the Central Asia + Japan Summit held in Tokyo in 2025, have opened new opportunities in this area. I am confident that today’s forum will serve as a strong platform for exchanging advanced technologies, launching new investment projects and further developing business ties between our countries,” noted J. Kazbekov.
As part of the forum, representatives of government institutions and companies from both countries presented projects and technological solutions related to key environmental priorities. In particular, discussions focused on monitoring and managing air quality and water resources, developing modern waste management systems and implementing climate change initiatives.
“Japan’s economic development and industrialization once had a negative impact on the country’s environment. However, we were able to overcome these challenges. Today, Uzbekistan is undergoing a similar phase of industrialization and development, which may naturally bring environmental challenges. Our cooperation is aimed at preventing such negative consequences. I am confident that this forum will become an important bridge for joint efforts in this area,” said Kentaro Doi, Deputy Minister of the Environment of Japan.
The forum concluded with bilateral meetings between the Uzbek delegation and representatives of Japanese companies. These discussions focused on establishing direct partnerships, exploring joint projects and expanding business cooperation.
The forum marked another important step in strengthening environmental cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, promoting the adoption of modern technologies and advancing joint initiatives aimed at improving environmental sustainability in the region.
