A Temporary Ban on Fishing Is Introduced in Uzbekistan

These measures are introduced in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 627 of July 8, 2020 “On Hunting and Hunting Management”, as well as Resolution No. 80 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated February 9, 2024.
The restrictions coincide with the fish spawning season. Fishing during this period can significantly reduce fish populations and may even lead to the disappearance of certain species.
For reference, the restrictions do not apply to fish farming based on intensive technologies in artificial water bodies or irrigation networks, nor to aquaculture and cage fish farming.
The public is reminded that fishing during the prohibited periods and in the designated areas entails administrative and criminal liability under the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
