Illegal Hunting Detected in the Aydar–Arnasay Lake System: Offender to Pay Substantial Compensation

During a raid carried out on 26–27 February, an incident involving the illegal hunting of nine ducks was recorded. The environmental damage has been assessed at 3,708,000 sums.
In addition, an administrative offence report was drawn up under Part 1 of Article 90 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The offender was fined an amount equal to 20 times the basic calculation value – 8,240,000 sums. In total, he is required to pay 11,948,000 sums.
Inspection raids are ongoing.
For reference: in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 627 “On Hunting and Hunting Management” dated 8 July 2020, the hunting season is closed throughout the country from 1 March to 15 August. The purpose of this restriction is to conserve biological resources, protect wildlife during the breeding period and maintain ecological balance. Hunting during this period entails strict liability under current legislation.
