Regional dialogue: Joint actions on water conservation discussed in Dushanbe

The Forum was organized within the framework of the regional project of the United Nations Development Programme "Climate Change and Sustainability" on the sidelines of the 3rd High-level International Conference on the International Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development" 2018-2028.
The event brought together key representatives of Central Asian governments and international organizations to join common efforts and support the implementation of commitments registered in the UN Water Action Agenda at the UN Water Conference, as well as to stimulate new partnerships and accelerate action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for the period up to 2030.
Within the framework of the event, National Organizational and International Advisory Committees, plenary sessions, and interactive dialogues were organized on topics such as "Water for climate, sustainability, and the environment", "Transboundary and international water cooperation", "Accelerating the implementation of the goals of the Decade", etc.
The Uzbek delegation provided information on the integration of the principles of "green growth" in New Uzbekistan through the introduction of water-saving and energy-efficient technologies, the expansion of renewable energy sources, the development of environmentally friendly transport, and the increase of green zones.
Following the results of the forum, the heads of delegations of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan reached an agreement to accelerate joint actions to increase the preparedness of the countries of the region for the current and future consequences of climate change, strengthen the institutional framework for the implementation of existing and new strategies, programs and plans, improve favorable conditions for increasing investments, further expand and promote conducting scientific research in the field of water resources and climate change, to consider the development of a new phase of the Climate Change and Sustainability project, including the expansion of project activities to all five Central Asian countries.
