During the raid, conducted along the Naryn–Kara Darya riverbed in the Shuvokzor–Boychechak mahalla of Pakhtaabad District, it was established that a citizen had illegally caught 49 fish using a prohibited method — an electrofishing device. Among the fish caught was the Turkestan barbel, a species listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan.

We remind the public that fishing with electric current causes severe damage to aquatic fauna and negatively affects other water organisms and the stability of the ecosystem.

As a result of the illegal catch, environmental damage amounting to 358,440,000 sums was inflicted. The prohibited tools and equipment were seized from the offender in accordance with established procedures. The relevant documents have been prepared and submitted to the prosecutor’s office for appropriate legal action.
