During the open dialogue, it was emphasized that youth engagement in environmental protection continues to grow both in scope and impact, alongside their increasing involvement in other areas of public life. Notably, the number of volunteers contributing to initiatives in environmental protection, healthcare, education and emergency response has now exceeded 100,000.
In order to further strengthen support for active and initiative-driven young people, the Head of State proposed the establishment of a Board of Trustees for the Development of the Volunteer Movement, bringing together leaders of ministries and government agencies as well as experienced volunteers.
In addition, a Volunteer Support Fund will be established under the Youth Affairs Agency of Uzbekistan. The Fund will receive an annual allocation of 20 billion Uzbek sums from the state budget. Regional khokims will also contribute 3 billion sums each from local budgets. These resources will finance grants of up to 100 million sums for youth volunteer projects.
These measures are aimed at creating sustainable institutional support for youth initiatives and further expanding young people’s meaningful participation in addressing environmental and social challenges.
