Measures Taken in Response to Illegal Tree Felling in the Surkhandarya Region

During a routine operational inspection conducted by the Surkhandarya Regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change, a violation of environmental legislation was identified in Uzun District.
In particular, during the рейд, a vehicle transporting firewood was stopped and inspected. The inspection established that the firewood belonged to A.J., a resident of Uzun District, who had unlawfully felled four poplar trees.
In connection with this violation, an administrative protocol was drawn up against the offender pursuant to Part 1 of Article 79 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A fine amounting to 25 basic calculation units was imposed, equivalent to 10,300,000 sums.
Furthermore, the illegal felling caused environmental damage assessed at 6,386,000 sums. In total, the offender has been ordered to pay 16,686,000 sums.
