Information circulated on social media alleging that the enterprise “Kyzylkum Phosphorite Complex” was polluting the atmospheric air. In response, the Main Department of Ecology and Climate Change of the Navoi Region conducted an inspection into the matter.
The inspection revealed that at the production workshops of the enterprise, located in the Konimekh District, the requirements stipulated in the conclusion of the state environmental expertise had not been fully complied with. Furthermore, emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air exceeding established standards were recorded. In particular, emissions of phosphorite dust from source No. 28 were found to exceed the permissible limit by 3.5 times.
In addition, the enterprise had developed an “Environmental Impact Assessment Application” for the extraction and use of non-metallic mineral resources at the “Tashkura” quarry, located in the Konimekh District. However, to date, a conclusion of the state environmental expertise for this project has not been issued.
In order to eliminate the identified violations and prevent further negative environmental impact, the operations of two production workshops of the enterprise were temporarily suspended for a period of ten days.
As a result of the inspection, compensation payments totaling 2,042,192,877 sums were assessed for violations related to atmospheric air pollution, wastewater discharges and waste disposal.
At the same time, administrative protocols were drawn up against five responsible officials, and the collected materials were forwarded to the Konimekh District Court for the consideration and application of administrative measures.
