A Natural Source of Heat
Located in the southern part of Uzbekistan, Surkhandarya Region is regarded as one of the sunniest areas in the country. The natural warmth of this region provides ideal conditions for the ripening of fruits, vegetables, melons, and other agricultural products. In particular, abundant solar heat significantly facilitates greenhouse operations.
“In Surkhandarya, all crops—whether vegetables, melons, potatoes, or cabbage—ripen 20 to 30 days earlier than in other regions. The greatest advantage for entrepreneurs is that greenhouses do not require separate heating systems; crops can be grown and income generated without using any fuel,”
says Boboyor Kholboyev, head of a farming enterprise.
Low Costs, High Returns
Currently, public demand for seedlings has doubled. This creates an opportunity for entrepreneurs to fully meet market needs by leveraging Surkhandarya’s climate and to generate substantial income from greenhouse operations. In other words, a person who owns a household plot and uses it efficiently is unlikely to remain without income.
“In Surkhandarya, we earn income even during abnormal cold spells, and this does not require significant expenses. Even when temperatures dropped to –24°C, we did not use any heating—the natural warmth was sufficient,”
notes farmer Akbar Mamatmuminov.
The Most Advantageous Location
The foreign company Ayaka has established a greenhouse complex covering 12 hectares in Termez. According to the company’s Executive Director, Shokir Safarkulov, the project is generating strong returns and has attracted investments totaling USD 2–3 million. He recommends that entrepreneurs involved in greenhouse farming consider Surkhandarya as their primary destination.
Undoubtedly, the region’s naturally warm climate, favorable environment, and supportive conditions enable entrepreneurs to achieve high profitability with minimal costs. Surkhandarya Region is an especially advantageous location for those whose income depends on greenhouse agriculture.
