Badminton Development in Uzbekistan Highlighted

During the visit, Kim Jong Soo toured the badminton sports complex and familiarized himself with the facilities and conditions created there. He also met with young Uzbek badminton players, members of the national team and coaches. As part of the meeting, talented young athletes and national team players demonstrated their skills.
Kim Jong Soo noted that the Central Asian Badminton Championship, held in Tashkent in September 2025, was organized at a high professional level.
For reference: the championship, which took place from 15 to 23 September, brought together athle tes from seven countries: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran and Mongolia. Uzbek badminton players also delivered strong performances, clearly demonstrating that the sport is developing dynamically in the country and that the number of talented athletes continues to grow.
It is worth noting that an agreement was signed between the Chairman of the Badminton Federation of Uzbekistan and the President of the Asian Badminton Federation aimed at the systematic development of badminton, the improvement of the regulatory, legal and institutional framework, the modernization of the training system for athletes, coaches and specialists, the development of sports infrastructure and the integration of Uzbekistan’s national badminton system into the international sports community.
The agreement outlines cooperation in a number of key areas, including the selection of at least one specialized badminton school in each region with the introduction of a model development system, alignment of the National Federation’s documentation with the requirements of the International Badminton Federation, modernization of athlete training programs from grassroots to elite professional levels, engagement of foreign coaches and experts alongside capacity-building for local specialists; expansion of experience-sharing programs and international cooperation, implementation of comprehensive preparation programs for international competitions, ensuring the participation of athletes and specialists in international training camps and tournaments through allocated quotas, organization of international badminton tournaments in Uzbekistan and the attraction of grants, investments and other financial resources.
During the visit, the heads of the badminton federations and athletes also held friendly matches as a symbol of friendship and unity. The visit concluded with an agreement to host international badminton tournaments in Uzbekistan in the future.
