Air pollution control raids continue in Tashkent

As of 24 December, a Special Commission comprising representatives of the State Inspectorate for Environmental Control (Environmental Police), the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Guard, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted inspection raids across the territory of Tashkent City and the districts of the Tashkent Region, including Kibray, Zangiata, Yukorichirchik, Yangiyul and Tashkent districts. Since the start of the raids, a total of 3,707 facilities have been inspected for compliance with legislation on the protection of atmospheric air.
Based on the results of inspections carried out between 25 November and 24 December:
–1,128 violations were identified, for which administrative proceedings were initiated
–the operations of 110 facilities that caused negative environmental impacts were temporarily suspended for up to ten working days, including 99 facilities in the Tashkent Region and 11 facilities in Tashkent City
–filtering equipment was installed at 94 greenhouse facilities
–6 greenhouse facilities were connected to gas supply networks and an additional 7 facilities submitted applications to obtain technical specifications for gasification
It is separately noted that on 23 December alone, 8 violations were identified during the raid activities.
In addition, in order to ensure transparency of inspection measures, enhance public environmental awareness, and explain the requirements of legislation on the protection of atmospheric air, special video materials were prepared and disseminated with the participation of mass media outlets.
