For reference: "Yukori Tupolang National Nature Park was established on 4 March 2022 in the Sariasia District of Surkhandarya Region.
The wolf (Canis lupus) belongs to the canid family and is rightfully regarded as a “forest steward,” as it plays a vital role in maintaining natural balance by regulating populations of ungulates and other animals. Wolves are distinguished by a highly developed communication system: they use a wide range of vocalizations—from growling and howling to snarling—as well as body language, including the position of the tail, ears and head, which helps maintain a strict hierarchy within the pack.
As a rule, wolves live in packs of 7 to 20 individuals, led by a dominant pair. The pack operates in a highly coordinated manner: the leader makes decisions, while the remaining members adhere to the established order. These animals are known for their remarkable endurance—they can cover long distances in a short period of time and navigate complex mountainous terrain with ease.
At present, 34 wolves inhabit the park’s territory. All of them are under continuous state protection, and monitoring through camera traps provides objective data on the status of the population, thereby contributing to the conservation of biodiversity in the region.
