However, building a comprehensive digital registry during the winter months presents certain limitations, as species identification becomes more difficult and full assessments of tree health are harder to obtain.
As part of the “Tree Registry” project, implemented by the International Public Foundation "Zamin" in cooperation with the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change and the Tashkent City Administration, extensive work is underway to train artificial intelligence using data validated by professional dendrologists. The training dataset currently includes information on 257,000 trees and nearly two million photographs.
The use of AI is significantly accelerating the inventory of large green areas. The more data the system is trained on, the more accurately it can determine species, size parameters and other key characteristics. This, in turn, provides a strong foundation for developing a precise digital map of Tashkent’s green assets and for enhancing the effectiveness of environmental monitoring and urban ecological management.
