The first foreign delegates have begun arriving in Samarkand to participate in the 20th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP20). Among the first to reach the ancient city was CITES Secretary-General Ivonne Higuero. The distinguished guest was welcomed at Samarkand International Airport by Obidjon Kudratov, First Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.

It is worth noting that only a few days remain before the opening of CITES CoP20. Final preparations are currently underway for this major international event, which will bring together representatives from the public and private sectors, international organizations and the scientific community from 167 countries.
The Conference is expected to become an important milestone in strengthening international cooperation and developing joint solutions to ensure the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of natural resources.
