Oversight of mining and geological activities
In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 1, 2018 No. PP-3578 "On measures to radically improve the activities of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Geology and Mineral Resources", the Inspectorate for Control over Mining and Geological Activities was established.
The main tasks of the Inspectorate for the Control of Mining and Geological Activities are:
implementation of state supervision over compliance by legal entities and individuals with the requirements of legislation and regulatory documents in the field of use and protection of subsoil in their geological study, mining (including fresh, mineral, thermal and industrial underground waters), processing of mineral raw materials, as well as geological and mine surveying provision of mining operations;
control over the implementation by subsoil users of decisions and conclusions adopted when approving mineral reserves by the State Commission for Mineral Reserves under the State Committee for Geology;
determination of the presence of admitted excess losses of minerals during the extraction and processing of mineral raw materials with the adoption of measures of responsibility in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
introduction of advanced methodology for the prevention of offenses, further development of interagency cooperation, widespread introduction of modern information and communication technologies in its activities;
in cases of detection of illegal mining, execution of relevant documents, determination of the amount of damage caused by conducting mine surveying;
informing the general public about the violations identified and their consequences, developing proposals for improving law enforcement practice and legislation in this area.
