International Technical Meeting on Uranium Deposit Exploration and Mining Underway in Samarkand

The event brings together representatives from over 25 countries, as well as international experts, scientists, and industry specialists. The discussions focus on environmental safety in uranium mining, the introduction of innovative technologies, and exchange of scientific experience.
The meeting was officially opened by Ural Yusupov, Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A welcoming address was also delivered by Adriann Henke, Technical Leader for Uranium Resources Production at the IAEA, who highly praised the strong cooperation established with Uzbekistan and emphasised that the development of scientific and technological capacity in uranium extraction represents an important step forward.
The conference agenda includes discussion of modern uranium extraction technologies, advanced international experience in developing sandstone-type deposits, and innovative approaches in this field.
