Employees of the State Institution “Kitab Geological Nature Park” took part in the international geoforum “UNESCO Global Geoparks for Sustainable Development and Cooperation”, organized in Almaty (Kazakhstan).
Within the framework of the forum a discussion and presentations on actual problems of creation of UNESCO Global Geoparks in Central Asia, UNESCO requirements, geological heritage and its protection were held.
Also geoparks with high potential in Central Asia were studied, as well as areas where a UNESCO Global Geopark could be established. A field trip was organized to the geological sites of the Karatau Geopark located in the Zhambyl region of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
