Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The competition marked a significant milestone, as it was held in Central Asia for the first time, with the University of Geological Sciences serving as the organiser and host institution.

Teams representing leading higher education institutions from Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan took part in the Olympiad. Participants demonstrated their knowledge and practical skills in modelling mining and geological data, developing geological, wireframe and block models, as well as estimating mineral reserves.

Following two days of competition, the winners were announced as follows:

🥇 1st place — Almalyk Branch of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS
🥈 2nd place — Nazarbayev University (Republic of Kazakhstan)
🥉 3rd place — University of Geological Sciences

MinGeoMod 2026 served not only as an international platform for young specialists to demonstrate their knowledge and professional skills, but also as an important step towards strengthening Uzbekistan’s role, and that of the University of Geological Sciences in particular, as a centre for international cooperation and professional dialogue in modern mining and geological modelling.
