Geological exploration works launched by Uzbek Overseas Geology Company in Afghanistan

Uzbek Overseas Geology Company has begun the implementation of a geological exploration project in Afghanistan. The works are being carried out at the Muhammad-Jandagar, Shamar and Ahmadobod blocks and are aimed at exploring hydrocarbon resources, as well as iron and copper deposits.

In the presence of the Deputy Governor of Balkh Province for Economic Affairs, Mawlavi Nurul Hodi Abu Idris, and the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, Khayitboy Omonov, an official start was given to the geological exploration works. The Company obtained the relevant licence following negotiations with the Afghan side.
The project is being implemented within the framework of a cooperation agreement previously signed between the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Mining Industry and Petroleum of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The parties confirmed their readiness to further develop cooperation in the fields of geology and mining.
