NMMC: the skip and main mine shafts have been connected at a depth of one thousand metres

As part of the investment project of NMMC JSC titled “Development of the lower horizons of the Zarmitan deposit”, a modern engineering facility — a skip mine shaft with a diameter of 6.5 metres and a depth of 1,000 metres — was commissioned at the mine in April this year.
Within this project, the depth of another engineering structure — the main shaft — was also extended to 1,000 metres. As a result, the skip and main shafts were connected to each other at a depth of 1,000 metres at the 0.00 m mark.
This will improve the supply of fresh air to the underground section of the Zarmitan deposit and will also serve as a backup emergency exit. Construction work on the main shaft is expected to be completed by the end of the current year.
