In an article by the Minister of Mining Industry and Geology, Bobir Islamov, published in Vatan magazine (Issue No. 2, 2025), it is emphasised that Uzbekistan’s abundant mineral resources are unlocking new opportunities for economic development. Over the past seven years, as a result of systemic reforms and the adoption of modern technologies, more than 1,650 new deposits have been discovered, and the extraction volumes of gold, copper, uranium, and other valuable minerals have increased significantly.
The Minister highlights that the legislative measures adopted — including the updated Law “On Subsoil” — have created a favourable investment climate. The volume of direct foreign investment has reached 3.6 billion US dollars, with major companies from France, Japan, China and other countries entering the sector. At the same time, projects related to rare-earth metals and the green economy are actively progressing.
The article also stresses the importance of training a new generation of specialists, introducing digital technologies, and applying the achievements of science and artificial intelligence in practical geological and industrial processes.
