Business Forum “Sweden and Uzbekistan: Prospects for Cooperation in Sustainable Mining”

The event was organised by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Sweden in cooperation with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden. It brought together representatives of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, NMMC JSC, AMMC JSC, Uzbekcoal JSC, as well as leading Swedish companies and industry organisations in the fields of mining, engineering, industrial equipment and technologies, including Epiroc, Volvo CE, Sandvik, SKF, EOL Vent, LKAB, Ericsson, Brokk, SIDA and Swemin.
During the forum, presentations were delivered on the economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, particularly those aimed at modernising the mining industry, expanding the production of high value-added products and creating favourable conditions for attracting foreign investment.
Participants highlighted the consistent development of cooperation between the two countries in the areas of industry, investment and technology.
Following the forum, B2B negotiations were held between business representatives of the two countries. The meeting discussed a number of new areas of cooperation, including technology transfer, industrial cooperation and prospects for the implementation of joint projects.
Negotiations were also held with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and the Swedish Association of Mining Companies (Swemin) regarding the launch of joint educational programmes with universities, as well as cooperation in implementing promising joint scientific and practical innovation projects with the support of the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems (Vinnova).
