Meeting held with the Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Suma Chakrabarti

On 12 March of the current year, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology F. Khamidova, responsible officials of JSC NMMC and the Ministry, and the Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Suma Chakrabarti, together with representatives of his expert group.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the work carried out and the plans regarding the possible accession of Uzbekistan to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).
S. Chakrabarti expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology for its cooperation within the framework of measures related to the possible accession of Uzbekistan to the EITI organisation, particularly noting the interest of the country’s leadership in this matter.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop an action plan to determine the next steps in these areas.
