Under this procedure, with the aim of early prevention and elimination of corruption-related risk factors, senior officials of the Ministry are required to complete a declaration on the presence or absence of a conflict of interest once a year.
In accordance with the requirements of the said regulation, declarations on conflicts of interest were completed by 110 responsible employees of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology (with 5 vacant positions). All identified cases were reviewed by the Ministry’s Ethics Commission, following which relevant conclusions and recommendations were issued. In particular, among 11 of the 110 employees who submitted declarations, cases of potential conflicts of interest were identified, related to the employment of their close relatives within the Ministry, subordinate organisations, as well as partner and contracting entities.
In order to prevent and preclude conflicts of interest, on 23 February 2026, Order No. 29 of the Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the relevant measures. In particular, restrictions were introduced on the joint involvement of close relatives in the performance of the same task, at the same site, or within the framework of a single project. In addition, to prevent conflicts of interest in the procurement process, restrictions were established on the conclusion of contracts with 82 business entities owned by close relatives of 42 employees of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Explanatory work aimed at preventing conflicts of interest continues within the system of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
