Autumn school holidays begin on November 4. The law provides options for parents who want to spend more time with their children during the break.

Under Articles 401 and 402 of the Labor Code, certain categories of parents are entitled to additional leave each year.

Who can use it?
One of the parents (or a person acting in a parent’s place) who has two or more children under 12, or a child with a disability under 16.

What types of leave are granted?
Each year, paid additional leave of at least 4 calendar days.
At the wish of one of the parents, each year, unpaid leave of up to 14 calendar days.

Important points:
▫️This leave may be added to annual leave or taken separately (in full or in parts) by agreement with the employer.
▫️Leave may be used only during the relevant working year. Unused leave is not carried over to the next working year.
▫️Paid additional leave is not replaced by monetary compensation.
