The event was attended by Deputy Minister R. Yusupov, Head of Department N. Pulatov, Deputy Head of the Inspection for Control in the Field of Mining Industry and Geology O. Zaripov, members of the public and members of the media.
The speakers spoke in detail about the content of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan’, adopted on 5 May 2025, as well as the purpose of its adoption - the protection of groundwater resources, preventing their depletion, regulating the activities of economic entities related to drilling for water, and improving the mechanism of accounting for water use.
According to the Law, it provides for liability for illegal drilling of wells for groundwater and failure to comply with the requirements for prevention of dangerous geological processes, establishment of five-fold taxation for groundwater abstraction without water measuring devices, and issuance of permits for drilling wells.
In addition, the Ministry's management and responsible specialists answered questions of interest to the press conference participants.
