It was noted that in recent years, our country has consistently implemented reforms aimed at protecting land and water resources, with a significant increase in the volume of groundwater used for irrigation and other purposes. It was also pointed out that cases of unauthorised drilling of wells and uncontrolled use of groundwater continue, in this regard, the need to strengthen measures to protect groundwater resources was stressed.
According to the draft law, it is proposed to amend the Law on Licensing, Permitting and Notification Procedures to introduce a procedure for issuing a permit for groundwater drilling activities instead of a permit for each individual well. In addition, the Tax Code includes a norm on tax recovery in the amount of five times the established rate in case of using groundwater without water measuring devices.
Following the discussion, the law was approved by the senators.
