PRESS RELEASE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC-PRACTICAL CONFERENCE ON “THE MUSICAL CULTURE OF EASTERN NATIONS: PRINCIPLES OF CREATIVE HARMONIZATION IN THE ERA OF GLOBALIZATION”

The Uzbek people’s ancient and diverse musical heritage has always held a special place among the cultures of Eastern nations, due to its rich history and multifaceted nature. Its current rise in prominence and its vast legacy are primarily attributed to its deep connection with folk creativity.
Under the auspices of UNESCO, the 13th International Music Festival "Sharq Taronalari" will be held on August 26-30 in the ancient and unique Samarkand, known as the "Beauty of the Earth". Musical groups and performers from 31 countries visited the "Sharq Taronalari" international music festival, which was organized and held for the first time in 1997. more than 400 artists, scientists and representatives from about 80 countries of the world are participating. On August 27-28, 2024, an international scientific and practical conference will be held within the framework of the festival on the theme "Musical culture of the peoples of the East: principles of creative harmony in the processes of globalization."
As part of the festival, an International Scientific-Practical Conference on the theme “MUSICAL CULTURE OF EASTERN PEOPLES: PRINCIPLES OF CREATIVE INTEGRATION IN THE PROCESSES OF GLOBALIZATION” will take place on August 27-28, 2024. For the first time, the conference will welcome 46 leading experts in the field from 32 foreign countries, including musicologists, ethnomusicologists, cultural scientists, rectors of prestigious universities, and directors of international research institutes and creative centers, significantly enhancing the prestige of the conference.
During the conference, specialists will focus on improving the quality and effectiveness of scientific research, integrating innovative educational technologies into the education system, and developing principles for the harmonization of Uzbek national music with the music of Turkic nations. A special expanded meeting was held under the leadership of Sultan Raev, Chairman of the Turkish Culture Organization (TURKSOY), with the participation of rectors from arts universities in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan. The meeting resulted in the adoption of a resolution establishing the “Union of Arts Universities of Turkic States” under TURKSOY. Subsequently, the institute of Uzbek National Musical art named after Yunus Rajabi was unanimously accepted into the union, and a memorandum of cooperation was signed with all participating higher education institutions.
Additionally, within the framework of the conference, 12 bilateral cooperation agreements were signed between leading higher educational institutions and international research centers from China, France, Russia, Germany, Gambia, Oman, and Jordan.
The main purpose of these international agreements is to establish collaborative creative projects, tours, international festivals, symposiums, competitions, and summer (or winter) schools; to organize master classes by leading professors from both sides; to deliver lectures on theoretical subjects; and to participate in scientific-theoretical conferences, symposiums, scientific seminars, round tables, and meetings. They also aim to facilitate the exchange of joint scientific-methodological and educational-methodological publications, improve the qualifications of professors and teachers, and foster participation in international artistic, scientific, and educational programs.
Uzbek classical music is one of the most ancient and inexhaustible treasures in the world. These timeless classical works have always been performed by both professional and amateur musicians and singers among our people, passed down through generations, enriched and refined along the way, becoming an invaluable cultural asset. In line with these traditions, the “MAQOM CAPSULE” created by the organizing committee will be presented during the conference. This presentation is expected to be the creative highlight and scientific innovation of the international conference.
A total of 100 Maqom Capsules will be produced and distributed to all participants, accompanied by a “User Guide” providing information on when each maqom is performed and its positive impact on the human psyche.
The main scientific outcomes, conclusions, and the best selected articles of the International Scientific-Practical Conference on “MUSICAL CULTURE OF EASTERN PEOPLES: PRINCIPLES OF CREATIVE INTEGRATION IN THE PROCESSES OF GLOBALIZATION” will be published in a “Collection of Articles” and presented as a gift to all conference participants and honorary guests. At the end of the event, each participant will be awarded an international certificate and commemorative gifts from the organizing committee by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
