PRESS RELEASE The 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference "Dance Art in Global Cultural Development: Traditions and Universal Human Values" Held within the Framework of the 3rd International Dance Festival “Lazgi”

To ensure the implementation of Resolution No. PQ-4843 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 28, 2020, "On the Organization and Conduct of the 'Lazgi' International Dance Festival," and with the aim of assessing and scientifically substantiating the level of Uzbek national dance art in reflecting universal and national values, the 3rd International Dance Festival “Lazgi” and its corresponding International Scientific and Practical Conference "Dance Art in Global Cultural Development: Traditions and Universal Human Values " will be held in Khiva on April 27–28 of this year.
Conference Organizers: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Government of Khorezm Region, UNESCO, TURKSOY International Cultural Organization, Directorate of International Festivals, State Academy of Choreography of Uzbekistan, and Research Institute of Cultural Studies and Intangible Cultural Heritage. Local and foreign media outlets serve as the press partners.
The international scientific forum will be attended by art historians and choreography experts from foreign countries such as Azerbaijan, Belarus, Brazil, Egypt, France, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Sweden, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and the USA, as well as professors, researchers, masters, and students of the Republic's higher education organizations.
The conference will conduct its work in Uzbek, Russian, and English.
The purpose of this International Scientific and Practical Conference is to study the three-thousand-year history of "Khorezm Lazgi Dance" which connects with "Avesto", to explore its aesthetic-ethnographic features, to discover new facets, to preserve and develop the ancient traditions of unique cultural heritage such as the "Lazgi" series, to recommend innovative methods of scientific research in this field, to strengthen friendship and brotherhood between peoples through dance art, and to further develop creative cooperation and cultural ties on an international scale.
As correctly noted in Resolution No. PQ-4843 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan: “ 'Khorezm Lazgi Dance', which occupies a special place in the rich history of our country's dance art, is famous not only in Uzbekistan but also in foreign countries for its unique performance style and charm. The inclusion of the 'Khorezm Lazgi Dance' in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is a testament to its unique art.”
The International Scientific and Practical Conference will operate in the following sections:

“Lazgi” Phenomenon: Innovative strategies for preserving intangible cultural heritage.
More than 200 articles related to the research of world folk art, the history of Uzbek national dance art, the formation stages of "Khorezm Lazgi dance", its aesthetic-ethnographic features, national-cultural sketches, ritual and folklore dances and their expression styles, dance education, music culture, problems of national and modern dance art criticism, promotion of Uzbek national dance art, and the activities of Uzbek national dance ensembles in foreign countries were submitted by industry specialists and researchers. 116 of these papers were accepted by the editorial board and recommended for publication.
Art historians from Azerbaijan, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Sweden, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and the USA, as well as scholars from Uzbekistan, will participate directly with reports, while leading experts from countries such as Belarus, Brazil, France, and Korea will participate online via the ZOOM platform.
Within the framework of "Lazgi" International Dance Festival, the II Meeting of Heads of Educational Institutions in the Field of Ballet and Choreography of the Turkic World will be held at the initiative of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). During this meeting, issues of implementing an international scientific-cultural project aimed at preparing and publishing the 6-volume "Anthology of Traditional Folk Dances of the Turkic World" will be discussed. In particular, special attention will be paid to the preparation of the "Anthology of Uzbek Folk Dance" part by the scientific-pedagogical team of the State Academy of Choreography of Uzbekistan. The project serves to comprehensively study, systematize, and popularize the choreographic heritage of Turkic peoples, as well as to strengthen historical-cultural ties between countries and develop international scientific and educational cooperation in the field of choreography.
Within the framework of the international forum, there will be a presentation of the collection of conference materials, the monograph "Khorezm 'Lazgi' Dance: History and Description" published in Swedish in Sweden (translator A.Muhammad), the "Suz.in" (India) international scientific journal, and the brochure "Khorezm 'Lazgi' Art: Years of Ascent" prepared in Uzbek and English by the faculty of the State Academy of Choreography of Uzbekistan. Additionally, an exhibition of books on national dance research and a roundtable discussion with industry specialists and art historians will be organized.
At the conclusion of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Dance Art in Global Cultural Development: Traditions and Universal Human Values" held within the framework of the 3rd International Dance Festival “Lazgi”, a resolution will be adopted.
