A meeting was held with a delegation consisting of leaders of Turkey’s leading confectionery producers — Mehmet Yıldırım Baklava, Karaköy Güllüoğlu Baklava, Burça Baklava — as well as officials of the Baklava and Dessert Producers Association (BAKTAD).
At the meeting, Jamshidbek Niyazbekov, advisor to the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, took part and discussed issues related to developing gastronomic culture, preserving and widely promoting national confectionery traditions, as well as strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties.
During the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on cooperation regarding cultural events within the framework of the “III International Baklava Festival,” which will be held in Samarkand in September this year.
Within the festival, it is expected that masterclasses, exhibitions, and presentations with the participation of confectioners from various countries will be organized. These activities aim to promote gastronomic culture by combining national and global confectionery traditions. The event is also intended to further strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties and elevate international cooperation in this field to a new level.
For reference, the festival was first held in Turkey, while the second edition took place in Azerbaijan. The upcoming third festival is expected to be hosted in Uzbekistan.
As part of the tradition, 15,000 pieces of baklava are planned to be distributed free of charge during the festival.
