PRESS RELEASE about the opening ceremony of the “Days of Georgian Culture” taking place in Uzbekistan

In recent years, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia has been steadily developing in all spheres, including culture and the arts. Georgia is considered one of Uzbekistan’s important and close partners in the Caucasus region.
Today, the growing cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia can be clearly seen in the active participation of our artists in international events organized in both countries.
In particular, Georgian artists regularly participate in major international cultural events held in Uzbekistan, such as the “Lazgi” International Dance Festival and the International Festival of Bakhshi Art. In addition, cooperation between theaters is also developing. In order to further strengthen this partnership, the “Days of Georgian Culture” are being held in Uzbekistan from March 9 to 11.
Within the framework of the Days of Culture, today, March 9, a cooperation meeting was held at the Ministry of Culture between the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov and the Minister of Culture of Georgia Ms. Tinatin Rukhadze. During the meeting, a number of issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed.
At the same time, today the opening ceremony of the “Days of Georgian Culture” in Uzbekistan took place at the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Uzbekistan in the capital. The event was attended by Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov, Minister of Culture of Georgia Ms. Tinatin Rukhadze, representatives of the Embassy of Georgia in Uzbekistan, and admirers of Georgian art.
The gala concert program dedicated to the official opening ceremony of the “Days of Georgian Culture” was titled “Dialogue of Cultures: Uzbekistan and Georgia — Heritage of Centuries and the Breath of Modern Times.”
During the concert, the Uzbek “Tumor” Dance Ensemble and the Georgian “Erisioni” State Academic Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dance presented their performances.
In addition, within the framework of the Days of Culture, on March 10–11, screenings of Georgian feature films will take place at the National Cinema Palace of Uzbekistan in the capital. The screenings will include Georgian films of various genres such as “The Wedding,” “The Umbrella,” “The Musicians,” and “Strange People.”
It should be recalled that on July 9–12, 2024, the events “Days of Uzbek Culture and Cinema” were organized in Tbilisi, Georgia. During those events, gala concerts and film screenings were held with the participation of Uzbek artists and dancers.
