PRESS-RELEASE of the conference "Khorazm "Lazgi" dance: scientific-theoretical, spiritual-educational principles of cultural diplomacy development" within the II "Lazgi" international dance festival

On April 27, the II "Lazgi" International Dance Festival hosted an international scientific-practical conference titled "Khorezm 'Lazgi' Dance: Scientific-Theoretical and Spiritual-Educational Principles for the Development of Cultural Diplomacy."
During the conference, Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov delivered a speech within the framework of the II "Lazgi" International Dance Festival.
Additionally, the conference program included speeches from Khorezm Region Governor Jo'rabek Rahimov, Rector of the Uzbekistan State Choreography Academy Shukhrat Toxtasimov, Professor of the Uzbekistan State Choreography Academy and the Urgench branch, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Gavhar Matyoqubova, Rector of the National Academy of Choreography of Kazakhstan Bibigul Nusipjanova, and the First Deputy Minister of Culture of Tajikistan Obid Nazariyon.
During the conference, Sultan Rayev, Secretary General of the International Turkic Culture Organization "TURKSOY," awarded the "TURKSOY" badge of honor to devoted masters who have served the Uzbek national dance art for many years and earned the recognition of the people, including Gavhar Matyoqubova, Ziyoda Madrahimova, and Karima Uzoqova.
The main goal of the conference was to preserve and develop the ancient traditions of the "Khorezm Lazgi" dance art, strengthen friendship and brotherhood among peoples through dance, and promote creative collaboration and cultural exchange at the international level. The international scientific-practical conference was held in the following sections:
- "Khorezm Lazgi Dance: History, Stages of Development, and Scientific-Theoretical Principles;"
- "Current Issues of Folk Dance: History, Theory, and Methodology, Eastern and Western Traditions."
Professors and researchers from around the world participated in the conference, including Svyatoslav Olenev from the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, Dr. Manara Eldiyep from Alexandria University in Egypt, Professor Ahlak Akhan from Jawaharlal Nehru University in India, Dr. Shamenaz Bano from Allahabad University, Haruka Tachibana from Japan, Lorel Victoria Gray, Professor at George Washington University in the USA and director of the "Silk Road" Dance Company, Evelina Bekirova from Turkey, and Kalami Ruhollah Hassan, manager of the International Eastern and Silk Road Music and Dance Center in Iran, along with scholars from the Moscow State Linguistic University, Kazakhstan's Jumabek Tashenev University, Kazakhstan Uzbek Etnocultural Union "Friendship" Community, Kütahya Dumlupınar University of Turkey, Kazakhstan National Choreography Academy in Astana, Kazakhstan National Art Academy, and Altai State Cultural Institute.
Conference participants presented research on topics such as world folk arts, the history and stages of development of Uzbek national dance art, ceremonial and folklore dances and their expressive styles, dance education, music culture, issues in national and contemporary dance art studies, promotion of Uzbek national dance art, and the activities of Uzbek national dance troupes in foreign countries.
Scholars from Egypt, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Russia, Japan, Germany, Brazil, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan participated directly from Khiva, while several scholars from the USA, Iran, Germany, Russia, India, and Kazakhstan joined the conference via Zoom.
During the international symposium, a presentation of conference materials and an exhibition of books on the history and research of "Khorezm Lazgi Dance" were held, along with a roundtable discussion.
