During the meeting, the Uzbek side proposed strengthening cooperation in the field of medical tourism. In particular, it suggested organising professional training programmes for Uzbek healthcare specialists at specialised medical institutions in Malaysia, as well as facilitating B2B meetings between tour operators from the two countries.
The Uzbek side also invited the Malaysian company to explore investment opportunities in Uzbekistan’s hospitality and restaurant sectors, including the construction of hotels and the opening of restaurants specialising in Malaysian cuisine. Representatives of the Malaysian delegation highly appreciated the favourable conditions created for foreign investors in Uzbekistan and expressed their readiness to engage with Malaysian businesses regarding the implementation of potential investment projects.
During the meeting, the company was also invited to participate with a national pavilion at the “Tourism on the Silk Road” International Tourism Fair (TITF 2026), which will be held in Tashkent. The Malaysian representatives welcomed the initiative and confirmed their interest in taking part.
The Malaysian delegation was further briefed on plans to hold the Malaysia–Uzbekistan Halal Festival in Tashkent in October 2027. The event is expected to be organised jointly with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and the Halal Development Corporation (HDC).
As part of the festival preparations, the Malaysian side requested support in securing preferential rates for hotel accommodation, venue rental, and domestic transportation, as well as consideration of simplified procedures for the temporary importation of equipment required for the event.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed that the Malaysian side would submit a list of proposals and issues requiring support to the Tourism Committee, after which both sides would work together to develop practical mechanisms for their implementation.
