Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 27, 2023, No. DP-114 “On measures for the effective organization of public administration in culture and tourism within the framework of administrative reform”, the Tourism Committee has been established under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Committee is a government body for the implementation of a unified state policy in the fields of tourism.
The Committee is responsible to the Cabinet of Ministers for the quality and effectiveness of the implementation of the state policy it carries out and is subordinate to the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In its activities, the Committee is guided by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, resolutions and decrees of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, resolutions and decrees of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the present Regulation and other legislative acts.
On July 18, 2019, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Tourism” was adopted, regulating relations in the field of tourism.
The main tasks of the Tourism Committee are:
• Increasing types of tourism, primarily the comprehensive development of domestic and pilgrimage tourism, ecological tourism, ethnographic tourism, business tourism, sports, gastronomic, health, educational, and scientific tourism, the comprehensive expansion of inbound and domestic tourism, the exploration of new tourism directions, and their promotion in tourist markets;
• Conducting marketing of tourism services in external and internal markets, further developing the country’s tourist image, popularizing and promoting the invaluable tourism potential of our country, implementing an active advertising and informational policy aimed at supporting the entry of national tourism products and brands into international tourism markets;
• Expanding international cooperation with influential international and national tourism organizations, primarily with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), as well as foreign companies, introducing international and intergovernmental standards and norms into tourism activities and practices, etc.
The system of the Tourism Committee includes:
1. The central apparatus of the Committee;
2. Tourism departments of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions, and the city of Tashkent;
3. State Unitary Enterprise “Tourism Services Certification Center”;
4. State Unitary Enterprise "National PR Center";
5. State Unitary Enterprise “Tourist Service Center”;
6. “Silk Road Office” the Unitary Enterprise;
7. “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and its Tashkent branch;
8. “Scientific Research Institute for Tourism Development”.
