As part of the initiative, a comprehensive set of practical measures has been developed to promote sport not only as a means of improving public health and achieving sporting excellence, but also as an economically significant sector. Particular emphasis is being placed on increasing stadium attendance and developing football tourism through the national championship.
The initiative is being implemented in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan issued during a national videoconference meeting held in April 2026, which focused on elevating the country's physical education and sports sector to a new level of development.
Following a break caused by the participation of the Uzbekistan national football team in the FIFA World Cup and preparations for the tournament, the Uzbekistan Super League has recently resumed.
As part of the 15th round of the championship, promotional activities dedicated to football tourism were organised during the Navbahor vs. Khorezm match. The game attracted approximately 15,000 spectators, who were introduced to specially designed domestic travel packages featuring the Fergana Valley and other regions of Uzbekistan, prepared by tour operators from the Namangan Region. Promotional activities held throughout the stadium generated strong interest among thousands of supporters in travelling within the country.
Following its successful launch in the Namangan Region, the project is scheduled to be rolled out at more than 100 Super League matches before the end of the season. It is expected to promote domestic tourism among over one million football fans attending league matches across Uzbekistan.
