The first day of the two-day program featured children’s races, a 2 km fun run, camping activities, an evening concert, and an environmental plogging run (litter collection while running) organized as part of the “Cleaner Than Before” initiative.
On the second day, the main races began at 6:00 a.m. Participants competed in the 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 50 km distances. The highlight of the event was the 50 km mountain ultramarathon, which included a total elevation gain of up to 1,638 meters. Due to its qualification requirements, this race is considered the most demanding category of the competition.
Interest in the 50 km race has grown significantly. While 62 athletes participated in this category last year, the number nearly doubled this year, reaching almost 170 runners.
In addition, the 50 km race serves as a qualifying event for the new “Aral Ultra” ultramarathon, which will be held this year on the shores of the Aral Sea.
All participants successfully completed their chosen distances and demonstrated a high level of athletic preparation. Following the competition, winners and prizewinners were determined and awarded well-deserved prizes.
To ensure broad coverage of the event, a special press tour was organized for representatives of domestic and international media outlets, as well as popular bloggers. Participants of the press tour observed the ultramarathon firsthand and explored the tourism infrastructure of Zaamin National Nature Park, the region’s natural attractions, and opportunities for active tourism. During the visit, guests were also introduced to ongoing projects aimed at developing Zaamin’s tourism potential and promoting the region as one of Uzbekistan’s leading destinations for ecotourism and sports tourism.
The “Zaamin Ultra” marathon plays an important role in promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle while also showcasing Zaamin’s natural beauty and tourism potential to an international audience.
For reference: The next events in the Samarkand Marathon Series will be “Sky Camp Bo‘stonliq,” “Aral Ultra,” and “Samarkand Marathon.”
