Over the course of several days, participants of the press tour visited the region’s attractions, including historical monuments, architectural complexes, handicraft workshops, and picturesque natural sites. The guests had the opportunity to directly familiarize themselves with the traditions, lifestyle, and everyday living conditions of the local population.
The trip began with a visit to the Khudoyar Khan Palace, one of the symbols of the city of Kokand. The palace made a strong impression on the guests with its unique architecture, exquisite decorative design, and rich history. Thanks to the museum exhibits located on the palace grounds, participants received detailed information about the political, cultural, and social life of the Kokand Khanate period.
Special attention was paid to issues of infrastructure development, support for family guesthouses, ecological tourism, and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage. Media representatives and bloggers were shown successful examples of tourism projects implemented within the framework of Uzbekistan’s state tourism development strategy. In particular, participants of the press tour were introduced to cultural and service facilities created within the scientific-educational and tourism complex “Burkhoniddin Marginoni” in the city of Margilan.
The “Burkhoniddin Marginoni” complex, built on the basis of the President’s decree dated April 1, 2025, represents a “city within a city,” where national architectural traditions, the history of Margilan, and modern requirements of the tourism industry are harmoniously combined. The complex covers an area of 35 hectares and is being developed with all necessary conditions for tourists. A hotel, caravanserai, commercial and service facilities, a craftsmen’s center, a national market, and museums have already been built on its territory.
One of the main directions of the complex’s activity is the study and promotion of the rich scientific heritage of the great scholar Burkhoniddin Marginoni. At the same time, it is intended to preserve ancient craft traditions and develop pilgrimage and cultural tourism. The “House of Otabek and Kumush” museum has also been created within the complex. Scenes from the novel “Days Gone By” have been recreated on its walls, creating a unique atmosphere that combines literature and history. In addition, a makom theater, a poets’ and artists’ alley, and a library are also located here.
In the future, the construction of a business center, a mosque for 1,500 worshippers, hotels, 400 commercial and service outlets, and a market with 300 trading spaces is planned within the complex. Once fully operational, the complex is expected to attract an average of 200,000–250,000 foreign tourists annually to the region.
Participants of the press tour also visited the “Garden of Health,” where lavender and other types of medicinal herbs and plants are cultivated. On a 24-hectare plantation owned by the family enterprise “Mehrigiyo” in the Uchkurgan district, lavender, rosemary, rare varieties of roses, bananas, kiwifruit, and coffee trees are grown. Only natural products are produced on the plantation and in the greenhouses. Various medicinal preparations, teas, and perfume products are manufactured here for therapeutic purposes.
The participants were able to enjoy the unique beauty of the lavender fields and also tasted lavender ice cream and refreshing drinks prepared according to a special recipe.
As part of the press tour, a seminar-training titled “Fergana through the Eyes of Bloggers” was also organized with the participation of media representatives and bloggers, aimed at broadly showcasing the tourism potential of the region. During the event, participants exchanged experience on promoting tourism using modern media technologies, creating high-quality content, and effective communication on social networks. Specialists provided recommendations on photo and video shooting of tourist sites, preparing materials capable of attracting audience attention, and forming a regional tourism brand.
As a result of the trip, the Fergana region left a vivid impression on the press tour participants thanks to its distinctive culture, hospitality of the local population, diversity of tourist routes, and broad opportunities for the development of domestic and international tourism. It is expected that the articles, video reports, and social media materials they produce will contribute to increasing the tourism attractiveness of the Fergana region and further boosting the flow of both domestic and foreign tourists.
