During the open dialogue, it was noted that Uzbekistan possesses significant natural and geographical potential for the development of active tourism. It was emphasized that the country’s mountains, rivers, lakes, desert areas, and unique natural landscapes create favorable conditions for the growth of adventure and extreme tourism.
Currently, more than 10 federations specializing in various types of active tourism operate in the republic. These federations include around 20 clubs that, in cooperation with tour operators, organize tourism routes in such areas as mountaineering, trekking, rafting, cycling tourism, motorcycle tourism, automobile expeditions, alpine skiing, paragliding, and other forms of outdoor recreation. In addition, more than 30 sports and tourism events are held across the country each year, helping to attract both domestic and international tourists.
During the discussion, a number of important initiatives aimed at further developing the sector were considered. In particular, participants discussed the development of active tourism routes and the creation of a unified registry, the classification of routes according to difficulty level, seasonality, and safety requirements, as well as the introduction of an expert evaluation system.
Another priority identified during the meeting was the maintenance and regular updating of a national registry of tour guides and outdoor guides in order to ensure tourist safety. This initiative will enable travelers to use the services of qualified professionals and contribute to the further improvement of service quality.
Special attention was also given to simplifying procedures for granting tourists access to protected natural areas and border regions. It was noted that such measures would allow for more effective use of the country’s unique natural attractions for tourism purposes and facilitate the creation of new tourism products.
Furthermore, the need to develop and implement national standards for active tourism infrastructure was emphasized. In particular, plans include establishing unified requirements for campsites, sanitary and hygiene facilities, emergency communication systems, safety infrastructure, green routes, and eco-trails. These measures will help create a comfortable and safe environment for tourists while ensuring the preservation of natural resources.
