Republican working group reviews practical efforts to develop tourism infrastructure in Samarkand region

On the first day of the visit, the working group visited the Chor-Chinor mahalla of Urgut district. Tasks were identified to develop 89.9 hectares of land while preserving the natural environment, establish recreational zones and a cable car system, form a tourism zone and a paragliding site in the mountainous area of Andak mahalla, develop tourism services at the Karatepa Reservoir, and create an “Eco Village.”
As the next site, the working group reviewed the potential of the Okhalik–Okboyro–Mironkul tourism and recreation zone in Samarkand district, as well as the progress of establishing the new mountain tourism complex “Edelweiss” and attracting the international brand “Gloria” to the project.
On the second day, the working group visited the Mehnatkash mahalla of Nurabad district, where it reviewed projects for the creation of a tourism zone, a wellness complex, and family guest houses. In the Nurbulok citizens’ assembly, presentations were delivered on current tourism activities and future development prospects. In addition, plans were outlined for the effective use of radon water resources and the establishment of a Medical Tourism Association in the Nurbulok area.
The next stop was a project to establish an eco-tourism recreation zone for the population near the Okdarya Reservoir, located in the Toytuyok mahalla of Ishtikhan district, covering lakeside territories. Plans were set for the phased development of a tourism complex in 2026–2030.
Furthermore, tasks were assigned to develop proposals for improving road infrastructure and extending electricity networks to this area.
