In 2021, within the framework of the 16th session of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the art of baxshichilik was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as an element of Uzbekistan’s intangible cultural heritage.

For your information, the International Baxshichilik Art Festival will be held in April 2025.

It should be noted that the International Baxshichilik Art Festival has been held in Uzbekistan every two years since 2019. The initiative to make this festival a regular event was proposed during the President’s visit to Surkhandarya in November 2018.

The festival aims to widely promote baxshichilik, one of the leading genres of Eastern folklore, to develop folklore traditions and values, and to study them more deeply. Its objectives include thoroughly researching the history of baxshichilik and epic storytelling, collecting works related to folk oral creativity, and further enhancing the significance of baxshi poets, oqin, and jirov performers in Eastern culture and art.

Stay tuned and keep yourself updated with information about the festival...
