Yesterday, the Senate’s Committee on Youth, Women, Culture, and Sports held its regular session.
The meeting discussed the "Law on Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan Regarding the Further Development of Live Performance Art."
Senators, Deputy Minister of Culture Murodjon Majidov, Ministry of Culture officials, experts, and members of local councils' Committees on Youth Policy, Culture and Sports, as well as members of the Youth Parliament participated in the meeting.
The law focuses on clearly defining the use of live performances or phonograms in event organization, monitoring compliance with existing legislation regarding the use of phonograms and authors’ works, and supporting artists who contribute to enhancing the prestige of national art and culture.
Additionally, it introduces regulations regarding the disclosure of information on the degree of phonogram use, stipulates that performers and authors must be clearly listed in the concert programs, and requires that the information about phonogram use in concert advertisements occupy at least ten percent of the overall advertising space.
Furthermore, the law specifies how the use of phonograms in musical and other works performed at events should be determined based on the degree of phonogram use.
The adoption of this law aims to improve the effectiveness of organizing concerts and performances, foster the development of live performance art, support talented performers, and introduce new mechanisms to encourage live performances.
At the end of the meeting, the Committee’s relevant decision was adopted.
