Yesterday, the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, visited Qatar and participated in Qatar National Day celebrations.
The event took place at the Darb as-Saai complex in Doha, where distinguished guests from all over the world attended and explored exhibitions showcasing Qatar’s national culture and history.
During the Qatar National Day festivities, the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, was welcomed by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Qatar, Ashraf Khojayev, who introduced him to the exhibitions and their history. Additionally, a friendly meeting was held between Ozodbek Nazarbekov and the Minister of Culture of Qatar, Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani.
"First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for the invitation to the Qatar National Day celebrations. Over the past two years, cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar has seen remarkable renewal and growth. The year 2024 has been rich in significant cultural events. In particular, today, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Our leaders especially recognized the successful Qatar Culture Days held in October in Tashkent. The fact that cultural exchange events were held in both countries within a single year is a testament to the strength of our relations. Considering the participation of Qatari creative teams in international festivals in Uzbekistan and other joint events, we can metaphorically call 2024 the 'Year of Qatar' in Uzbekistan," said Ozodbek Nazarbekov.
Additionally, during the discussion, it was noted that a documentary film reflecting the friendship between the two nations was filmed as part of a press tour for Uzbek media representatives, generating significant public interest.
For reference, Qatar National Day is celebrated annually on December 18.
