A commemorative evening dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Mamajon Rakhmonov was held at the Uzbek State Institute of Arts and Culture

At the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture, a memorial evening dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Mamajon Rakhmonov's birth was held, along with the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Urgent Issues of the Science and Education of Art Studies in Integration and Transformation Processes.”
Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, honored scholar of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Art Studies, and Professor Mamajon Rakhmonov would have celebrated his 110th birthday this year. The distinguished art historian made a tremendous contribution to the development of theater arts in Uzbekistan and was also widely known as a public and state figure.
The event honoring the bright memory of the incomparable teacher Mamajon Rakhmonov consisted of two parts. First, a memorial evening was organized, during which the scholar's life path, scientific research, contributions to Uzbek culture, and human qualities were remembered.
At the beginning of the event, a documentary film about the life of Academician Mamajon Rakhmonov was shown. In the film, his students and close associates shared stories about his life, his attitude towards art and culture, his support for students, and many memories associated with him.
The evening was opened by the rector of the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture, Professor Nodirbek Sayfullaev, who noted that Mamajon Rakhmonov's life is an example for everyone. The hardworking scholar played a significant role in advancing Uzbek national theater art and was the author of numerous monographs, research works, articles, and collections dedicated to the ancient history, development, and pressing issues of this field.
In addition, the First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Avazkhon Tadjikhanov; Chairman of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, Akmal Nur; Director of the Cinematography Agency, Shukhratilla Rizayev; Honored Artist of Uzbekistan and Senior Broadcaster Nasiba Ibragimova; and People's Artist of Uzbekistan Rustam Khamidov shared warm memories of Mamajon Rakhmonov, highlighting his human qualities and contributions to the development of art, culture, and science.
Mamajon Rakhmonov was born on December 21, 1914, in Kokand. He began his career as a schoolteacher. From 1931 to 1936, he studied at the Moscow Financial Institute, and from 1938 to 1942, he managed the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan. From 1942 to 1949, he served as the director of the State Musical Theater of Uzbekistan named after Mukimi. In 1949–1951, he headed the Uzbek Opera Studio at the Moscow State Conservatory. Upon returning to Uzbekistan, he continued his studies at the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute (now the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture) from 1951 to 1954. He also managed the Alisher Navoi State Academic Grand Theater.
In subsequent years, Mamajon Rakhmonov held responsible positions such as rector of the Tashkent State Conservatory and the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute, contributing significantly to the preparation of skilled personnel in the fields of culture and art in Uzbekistan.
The event continued with the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference on the topic “Urgent Issues of the Science and Education of Art Studies in Integration and Transformation Processes.”
At the plenary session of the conference, notable speeches were made by academicians, professors, and scholars, including Kamola Akilova, Akbar Hakimov, Muhabbat Tulyakhodzhaeva, Omonulla Rizayev, and Dilafruz Kodirova, each highlighting various aspects of Mamajon Rakhmonov’s legacy and addressing contemporary issues in art studies.
The conference proceedings were published as a collection, featuring more than 80 articles dedicated to Mamajon Rakhmonov’s life, scientific and creative leadership, pedagogical activities, and pressing issues in art studies and education.
