This cultural program allowed Italian audiences to experience the unique charm of Uzbek art and understand its significance in world culture, thanks to nearly 100 representatives from Uzbekistan’s art and culture sphere.
As part of the cultural event, a gala concert of the Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan’s State Academic Grand Theater named after Alisher Navoi was held in Rome and Viareggio. The concerts were attended by both Italian audiences and Uzbeks residing there, including the famous Uzbek footballer Eldor Shomurodov.
Additionally, during the Days of Uzbek Culture in Italy, a delegation led by Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Culture, Yusufjon Usmonov, held several meetings with Italian cultural figures to further strengthen cultural ties between the two countries. In particular, a cooperation meeting was held with Italy’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Gianmarco Massi.
“Uzbekistan and Italy are two nations with great cultural heritages. While Italy holds a vital place in world history as a center of art and civilization, Uzbekistan has long been a crossroads of ancient civilizations linking East and West. This land is the homeland of great scholars like Al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, and Al-Farghani and is distinguished by its rich cultural legacy. Looking back at the history of our countries’ relations, they go back many centuries. Specifically, during Amir Temur’s era, close relations were established between our states. Today, cultural cooperation between our nations has reached a high level. A Cultural Cooperation Program for 2024–2026 was signed between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Government of Italy. Based on this document, our partnership is further developing,” said Yusufjon Usmonov during the meeting.
During the meeting, the following proposals were put forward to further develop cultural cooperation between the two nations:
- Enhancing cooperation between theaters of the two countries, particularly exploring opportunities for Uzbek theater technical specialists to undergo training in Italian theaters;
- Establishing partnerships between educational institutions in the cultural field, facilitating experience exchanges, and organizing teacher and student exchanges;
- Collaborating in the management of cultural centers;
- Establishing links between Uzbekistan’s research institute for intangible cultural heritage preservation and Italian organizations active in this field;
- Holding Days of Italian Culture in Uzbekistan in 2025;
- Organizing events in Uzbekistan in 2025 dedicated to the 770th anniversary of Marco Polo.
To implement the above collaborations, it was proposed to sign a Program of Measures for 2025–2027 between the ministries of the two countries.
Furthermore, in the following days of the visit, the delegation led by Yusufjon Usmonov held meetings with several Italian cultural representatives, including the President of the renowned Puccini International Festival Fabrizio Miracolo, the head of MAGISTER ART Renato Saporito, the management of the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone concert complex, and representatives of Uzbekistan’s embassy in Italy.
At the conclusion of the meetings, it was emphasized that the Days of Uzbek Culture in Italy have become a symbol of friendship, mutual understanding, and cultural cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.
