As a devoted figure of Uzbek national music and maqam art, the Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, Fakhriddin Sodiqov (1914–1977), left an indelible mark in the hearts of our people. His unique performances on the chang and dutar, as well as his high mastery in the field of maqam, positioned him as a prominent figure in the world of arts. From 1961, Fakhriddin Sodiqov worked actively in the maqam ensemble of the Uzbek State Radio and Television Committee, contributing significantly to the development of maqam music alongside the renowned composer Yunus Rajabiy. Over 15 years, he served as the demanding musical leader of the group, collaborating with many renowned maqam masters.
Today, numerous invaluable artifacts connected to Fakhriddin Sodiqov’s creative legacy have been added to the Maqam Museum.
Stage costumes, honorary awards, historical photographs, and rare gramophone records were donated by his granddaughter, Umida Asqarova. Additionally, Professor Ravshan Yunusov contributed unique manuscripts, documents, and historical photographs related to his mentor’s life and work.
These artifacts are crucial for studying Fakhriddin Sodiqov’s creative legacy and passing it down to future generations.
These treasures further affirm the greatness of Uzbek maqam music traditions. Deep gratitude to all who honor the master’s legacy and contribute to its preservation.
