The Republican Showcase Competition "Uzbek Tightrope Walkers and Wrestlers," dedicated to the memory of master wrestler Tursunali Mamajonov, was held at the "Navruz" park in Tashkent.
The competition was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Research Institute of Cultural Studies and Intangible Cultural Heritage.
A total of 55 tightrope walking and wrestling troupes from all regions of the republic took part in the competition and showcased their art.
Final Results:
Grand Prize — Fergana Region, "Shohimardon Tongi" Folk Tightrope Walking Troupe
1st Place — Namangan Region, "Kosonsoy Dorbozlari" Folk Tightrope Walkers Troupe
2nd Place — Andijan Region, "Dadamirza Polvon" Tightrope Walkers Group, and Fergana Region, "O'ktam Dorboz" Folk Tightrope Walkers Troupe
3rd Place — Andijan Region, "Ustazoda" Folk Tightrope Walkers Troupe; Fergana Region, "Qo'qon Minori" Folk Tightrope Walkers Troupe; and Fergana Region, "Oltin Vodiy" Folk Tightrope Walkers Troupe
The showcase competition serves to preserve and protect the national traditions of tightrope walking and wrestling, promote them widely, and support representatives of the field.
