At the Gavkushon Madrasa took place the first session of public discussions within the Bukhara Biennial — a cultural event that gives an impetus to the development of tourism and the creative economy. The Biennial’s commissioner, Gayane Umerova, opened the program with a conversation with artistic director Diana Campbell.

The discussion revealed the key ideas and concept of the Biennial, highlighting its mission as an international platform that unites Bukhara’s cultural heritage with contemporary artistic practices. It was emphasized that initiatives like this contribute to the growth of tourist flows and strengthen international interest in the city.
Special attention was given to the preparatory processes, which included research work, engagement of international and local experts, as well as the careful selection of locations for the program — taking into account their tourism and cultural potential.
