The opening ceremony was attended by Umid Shadiev, Chairman of the Tourism Committee, Ms. Chi Lu, Executive Director of the Beijing Association of Foreign and Cultural Trade of the China Federation of Industry and Commerce, representatives of major Chinese travel companies, and other official guests. During the event, speakers emphasized that the newly established Tourism Office in Beijing will play a key role in further strengthening tourism ties between Uzbekistan and China. It will also assist leading Chinese travel companies in entering the Uzbek market and establishing cooperation. In addition, the Tourism Office will actively participate in the implementation of new projects by providing foreign investors with comprehensive information about tourism opportunities in Uzbekistan.
It is worth noting that, thanks to the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, bilateral relations have reached a new level in recent years. In particular, cooperation in the field of tourism is developing rapidly. A clear testament to this is the 30-day visa-free regime that came into effect on June 1, 2025, as well as the more than 50 weekly flights currently operating between the two countries. In the coming years, this number is expected to increase to 100 flights per week.
Furthermore, the designation of 2025 as the “Year of Uzbekistan Tourism in China” also contributes to strengthening bilateral tourism cooperation. Throughout this year, Uzbek delegations have held roadshows in nine major Chinese cities, actively participated in tourism exhibitions, and a series of promotional events are scheduled in several other provinces before the end of the year.
Uzbekistan aims to increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting the country to 3 million by 2030. The newly opened Tourism Office in Beijing is one of the important steps toward achieving this ambitious goal.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, representatives of Uzbekistan invited all participants to visit the country and emphasized that Uzbekistan remains one of the most open and welcoming destinations for Chinese tourists.
